As we are all aware, there are a lot of homeless and rough sleepers in and around Chelmsford. After learning about a project called RunVember, RunFit Essex, decided to help make a difference to the homeless people of Chelmsford by teaming up with RunVember and a local homeless charity, Sanctus, who runs a café for the homeless in the City of Chelmsford.
Sign up today to the Runvember Chelmsford challenge (entry cost £3) and do one of the following every day during the month of November:
RUN, WALK, SWIM or CYCLE at least 1 Mile (1.6K)
Fill a box with items and supply for a homeless person (box supplied for free) and hand in to our designated warehouse.
Claim your Cool Bespoke Medal and feel a sense of achievement from completing a challenge as well as helping a homeless survive during the cold wither months.
"Receiving a box would allow us to distribute essential items to those on the streets and those trying to get back on their feet. A backpack, a pair of clean socks, clean underwear or a deodorant is something that we take for granted but to many of our service users these things are a rare commodity and are massively appreciated by those in need.
Thank you! Sanctus "

They prove a friendly community for those who suffer social isolation due to homelessness, mental health problems and drug and alcohol dependency. Sanctus link with local organisations who offer drug and alcohol support and also help with practical support in helping the homeless get off the street and into council accommodation as well as writing a cv to find a job.
